Read the text below and decipher the codeword.
Kehillot (congregations) from all over the area gather over the course of Chanukah at the site of the Second Temple Era synagogue in Modi’in. How profound it is to witness the modern residents connecting to their ancient roots. This is a photo of a local kehilla reading the special Torah portion for Chanukah.
Below is part of the Torah text read on Chanukah. These ancient words are the foundation for the modern Hebrew that we speak today.
From the Chanukah Torah Reading – במדבר פרק ז
א וַיְהִי בְּיוֹם כַּלּוֹת משֶׁה לְהָקִים אֶת הַמִּשְׁכָּן וַיִּמְשַׁח אֹתוֹ וַיְקַדֵּשׁ אֹתוֹ וְאֶת כָּל כֵּלָיו וְאֶת הַמִּזְבֵּחַ וְאֶת כָּל כֵּלָיו וַיִּמְשָׁחֵם וַיְקַדֵּשׁ אֹתָם:
ב וַיַּקְרִיבוּ נְשִׂיאֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל רָאשֵׁי בֵּית אֲבֹתָם הֵם נְשִׂיאֵי הַמַּטֹּת הֵם הָעֹמְדִים עַל הַפְּקֻדִים:
