In a series of tweets, former US Ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro hailed the visit last week of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as “more important than a POTUS [President of the United States] visit”!
He continued: “Modi represents something new: a genuine opening with a leader in the bloc of [developing] nations that have often been unfriendly [to Israel].”
He also acknowledged the “warmth” of the visit, saying “Modi, with his charisma and international following, positively embraced Israel.”
At the following meeting with Jews of Indian descent, Prime Ministers Netanyahu and Modi displayed a friendship and closeness rarely seen in the international arena.
