This past week, we celebrated 120 years since Theodore Herzl organized the first ever Zionist Congress in Basle, Switzerland.
But Herzl’s hope for the Jewish State to signify the end of antisemitism is nowhere close to being realized. In fact, there is also a proliferation of anti-Zionism, another arm of antisemitism.
There are terror organizations whose raison d’etre is the destruction of the Jewish State, as well as Iran threatening nuclear war with Israel.
One of the founders of J Street said if the State of Israel can only exist by the sword, then maybe it isn’t a good idea after all!
How can we reflect on today’s Israel in light of this?
Watch Rav Perez explain this reflecting on a phrase in this week’s Haftara of Ki Tavo.
