Baruch Sterman is a co-founder of Ptil Tekhelet, an organization dedicated to restoring the ancient Biblical blue dye, and is considered to be one of the world’s experts on the topic. He has lectured around the world and written widely on all aspects related to Tekhelet including the halacha, history, philosophy and science. His book, The Rarest Blue, was awarded the Jewish Journal Book Prize for 2013.
Baruch received his doctorate in Physics from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, where he invented a laser used for both medical and industrial purposes. He has a Master’s in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University in New York. For the past twenty-five years, he has been a leading technologist, entrepreneur and executive in the Israeli high-tech sector, and holds over 30 patents in optics, voice technology, and computer security.
