
Born in Israel in 1976, mother of six, Tamar Meir holds degrees in Talmud and Jewish philosophy, and a PhD in literature from Bar-Ilan University.
Tamar established and heads the “Kulana” women’s Beit Midrash in Givat-Shmuel, and taught in the Midrasha at Bar Ilan, Matan, and other midrashot.
She is a member of the Board of Rabbis of Beit Hillel, and is in charge of woman empowerment projects In Beit Hillel.
She currently serves as head of the Literature Department at the Givat Washington College of Education and teaches Aggadah at Efrata College and at Bar-Ilan University. She teaches Midrash, Aggadah, Chassidic stories and modern Literature.
Francesco Tirelli’s Ice Cream Store, Meir’s first children’s book, telling the real story of Righteous man among the Nations during the holocaust, was awarded the Yad Vashem Prize (2017) and the Devorah Omer Prize for Children’s Literature (2017).
