Leora Bednarsh is a graduate of Drisha’s Scholars’ Circle and the Keren Ariel program for Yoatzot Halacha at Nishmat. She holds a B.A. in Psychology and Linguistics from Princeton University. Prior to her aliyah in 2004, Leora taught Talmud and Halacha at the Yeshivah of Flatbush High School, her alma mater, and at Drisha’s Continuing Education program. In Israel, Leora works as a Yoetzet Halacha on the Nishmat hotline, and teaches Talmud and Halacha, at Midreshet Moriah, MMY, Sha’alvim for Women, and Yeshiva University’s Midrashiyah women’s leadership program.

Rabbi Assaf Bednarsh received his semicha from the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary, an affiliate of Yeshiva University. He holds a B.A. from Princeton University and an M.A. in Jewish History from Yeshiva University. Prior to his aliyah in 2004, he served as a Maggid Shiur and Assistant Director of Yeshiva University’s Graduate Program for Women in Advanced Talmudic Studies, and as a Rebbe in TMSTA – Yeshiva University High School. He currently holds the Ruth Buchbinder Mitzner Chair in Talmud and Jewish Law at Yeshiva University’s RIETS Kollel in Jerusalem, and teaches at Yeshivat Har Etzion.

Rabbi Assaf and Leora live in Alon Shevut with their seven children.
