
Ben-Tzion Spitz is the former Chief Rabbi of Uruguay where he was responsible for many of the religious services in the country. His first job was as a nuclear engineer for Raytheon. He went on from there to a 20-year career in consulting, business development and management for industrial and technological companies in the US, Europe and Israel, before accepting the role of Chief Rabbi in 2013. He is also the author of eleven books on a range of Torah themes, including a biblical fiction novel, Joshua: Conqueror. Rabbanit Dr. Tamara Spitz is the Dean of Students and Mashgicha Ruchanit of Midreshet Torah VAvodah. She lectures and has held academic and administrative positions at various Midrashot and served as the Jewish Studies Principal of Instituto Yavne, one of the main Jewish day schools of Montevideo, Uruguay. Dr. Spitz holds an undergraduate degree in Judaic Studies and Pre-Medicine from Touro College, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude, and a Doctorate of Chiropractic from the University of Bridgeport. She runs a Chiropractic practice specializing in Women’s Health in Gush Etzion. Dr. Spitz is a hip hop dance teacher and choreographer.
