July 4th 2016 marks the 40th anniversary of the famous Entebbe Raid. Also known as Mivtza Yonatan, Operation Yonatan, in memory of the Israeli Army unit’s commander Yoni Netanyahu (brother of PM Binyamin Netanyahu), was one of the most daring military raids in history.
After an Air France flight from Tel Aviv to Paris was highjacked by terrorists who diverted the plane to Entebbe in Uganda, the Israeli and Jewish hostages were separated and subjected to the terrorists demands for a large sum of money as well as the release of many pro-Palestinian prisoners who were incarcerated in several countries.
Israel decided to go in and rescue the hostages in this amazing mission.
