This week, our President Kurt Rothschild celebrated his 95th birthday! CEO Rav Doron Perez addressed the party held in our newly refurbished hall to the many coworkers, family members, and friends in attendance. Rav Doron pointed out that just like Moshe Rabbeinu, who started his leadership career at the strong (גבורות) age of 80, Kurt is in the midst of his current career. Among the guests were three generations of Rothschilds – Kurt, his daughter Naomi and his granddaughter Shira. Kurt spoke about the significance of birthdays and the special light of Chanukah.
Kurt and Edith made aliyah at the ripe young age of 91 from Toronto, Canada, where he was a driving force in the Jewish community as a whole, and the Mizrachi movement in particular.
Since then, he has been voluntarily working daily at the World Mizrachi offices in Jerusalem on projects for many Religious Zionist organizations, such as: Yeshivat HaKotel, Jerusalem Community Health Center (JCHC), Shaarei Tzedek, Yad Sarah, Machon Lev, Machon Tal, and fundraising for the former inhabitants of the communities of Gush Katif, to name but a few! In many of these organizations Kurt serves as a board member.
Kurt was also honored this week with the lighting of the Chanukah candles in Mamilla Mall.
We wish Kurt and Edith continued good health, happiness and much nachat from their children, grandchildren and many great-grandchildren!
