A former IDF soldier was interviewed this week at AIPAC about his thoughts on how Israel is portrayed in the media.
The former soldier says that he was involved in a number of incidents where he later saw them reported online in a completely distorted version of the truth.
He tells of one particular occasion when he was in Hebron and the soldiers fired rubber bullets at some teenagers to scare them away from their vantage point, from which they were hurling cinder blocks and firebombs.
This incident was later reported in a media outlet headlined as “Israeli Soldiers Shoot and Kill Palestinian Children”, which is “a complete fabrication of reality”.
As he mentions, if someone who is not so well-versed on Israel and stumbles across these stories, it is no wonder they end up thinking that Israel is such a terrible country.
