Over 300 people attended our Shlichut fair last week, organized by the Religious Zionist Shlichut Center. The fair, which was held at Bar Ilan University, was for families and singles who wanted to learn more about the world of Shlichut and the different organizations that send Shlichim abroad.
The crowd were treated to an inspirational speech by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Tzipi Hotovely, who told the crowd about her experiences when she was on Shlichut in the US. They also heard from Chairman of the World Zionist Organization Avraham Duvdevani and our Chief Executive Rav Doron Perez, and learnt more about Diaspora Jewry in an interactive session with Rav Yona Goodman. Finally, they heard the story of recently-returned Shlichim Mickey and Ortal Flumenhaft, who were Bnei Akiva Shlichim in Manchester, UK.
The evening concluded with a fair where attendees learnt more about each organization and could begin the application process. At the fair, the following organizations and programs were represented: World Bnei Akiva, Torah MiTzion, Lavi Olami, World Zionist Organization, Jewish Agency, Ministry of Education, Strauss-Amiel, Bat Ami, Manhigut Toranit and Shalhevet.
The fairs were initiated and organized by Ohad Tal, the head of The Religious Zionist Shlichut Center, a joint project of Mizrachi, Torah MiTzion and World Bnei Akiva.
