In a press release sent out, Minister for Diaspora Affairs, Naftali Bennett, announced that the Israeli government will be sending $1m in aid to the stricken Houston Jewish community following Hurricane Harvey.

“The Jewish State is measured by its response when our brothers around the world are in crisis”, said Bennett.

The aid will help to repait the community’s schools, synagogues, JCC and old-age home which suffered damage from the unprecedented flooding recently.

The rehabilitation of the community will likely take years.

Bennett concluded by saying that “for years the Jewish communities stood by Israel when it needed their help; now it is our turn to stand by Houston’s Jewish community.”
