A seemingly unremarkable stone has a pretty remarkable inscription on it.
The piece of stone isn’t particularly large and doesn’t feature any jewels or fancy ornaments. However, it is particularly noteworthy as it features an extra-Biblical reference to King David, the earliest found.
The inscription can be clearly read as “bytdvd” – “Beit David”, i.e. The House of David.
