Long-time leader of the Ahavath Torah community in Englewood, New Jersey, Rabbi Shmuel Goldin made Aliya this week together with his wife Barbara after an incredible 33 years of serving the community.

Rabbi Goldin, an author and a well-renowned scholar, will be taking up a position with Nefesh B’Nefesh as their Senior Scholar with a remit to work with “Rabbis and the Diaspora Jewish communities to help restore [Zionist] passion.”

Rabbi Goldin is quoted as saying:

“It is natural for the passion over generations to have dissipated. We remember the 6-Day War, the birth of the State of Israel and we assume our kids and the next generations are starting where we started. We need to be intentional here. What are we going to do to really think about the question of Israel and the question of being Zionists in the Diaspora community? How does the existence of the State of Israel change our lives on a positive and practical level in our daily lives?”

You can hear Rabbi Goldin speaking to Nachum Segal on his radio show, with his thoughts on making the big move:

On behalf of Rav Perez and the World Mizrachi family, we wish Rabbi and Mrs Goldin a hearty Mazaltov and “Klita Kala” – “an easy absorption”!

Mazal tov Rabbi Shmuel Goldin, spiritual leader over the past 33 years of the extremely vibrant Congregation Ahavath…
