Rav Ronen Neuwirth, previously Rabbi of Bnei Akiva of the U.S. and Canada, wrote a post this week on Facebook about something very special that happened to him while he was travelling abroad:
Last Friday I flew from New York to Memphis where I was staying as a guest speaker for Shabbat. During the flight, I held my Gemara and learned from it.
Suddenly, the flight attendant approached me and asked me – “In what language is that written?”
I replied – “Hebrew”
She asked me – “You’re from Israel?”
I replied – “Of course!”
Immediately she gasped, and looked at me emotionally and with tears in her eyes said: “We love you so much! You are the light of the world! The barbaric terror raging in the streets pains us, and every day I pray to G-d to help you!”.
I was also moved by this surprising gesture. The tears in her eyes ensured my eyes didn’t remain dry…
Indeed, not everyone hates us. There are many who love us ….
